Jamie Oliver’s Pomegranate Buck’s Fizz

Jamie Oliver has launched his Christmas microsite with a short video showing how to make a Buck’s Fizz cocktail with a twist (clik here to watch). Although the champagne aficionados among you may baulk at ruining good bubbly, Jamie does admit that you can use any cava or prosecco to the same effect.

Jamie – or “Jme” as the site calls him – makes a champagne cocktail which is traditionally drunk on Christmas morning. I must admit that I did cringe when the Veuve Cliquot got poured away, but there are some Christmas traditions that just cannot be ignored. His new site has some very useful recipes and plenty of booze involved for wine lovers.

Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label

Veuve Cliquot

Ingredients

  • Two Pomegranates Halved
  • Splash of clementine juice
  • Sparkling wine – Jamie uses Veuve Clicquot in this recipe which is a good mid-range champagne with prices starting at around £18. It also has the benefit of a whole range of gift packs, travelling cases and ice jackets in the signature yellow-orange colour.

Method

Squeeze the pomegranates by hand over a container and sieve. Add some clementine juice the same way. Pour into a tumbler or champagne flute and top up with any bubbly.
