Oh The Passion Wine Provokes

Over aty Wine Librbary TV some of the fans, or should we say Vanyiacs (so called after the precocious host Gary Vaynerchuk), have become a little nutty over an Episode that was aired a little while ago, Episode #477 to be precise. This episode involved Gary conducting a blind tasting on some Cabernets that didn’t go as planned. After unvieling the scores, the Wine Library private label won the tasting.

Wine Library TV has been exceptionally successful at selling wine as many times after Gary gives a wine a good score, they sell out of that particular wine very quickly.  So, quite rightly, a conflict of interest was noted and Gary decided not to air the Episode. Due to other circumstances, which he explains in Episode 481, the show was aired, and many regular viewers became invested in the Episode.

Ther passion and at times, verbal abuse toward Gary and show is quite unbelievable as can be seen in the comments section of Episode 481.  I’ve been watching the show for a while now and I think he does a pretty good job at being tranparent and honest in his opinions of wine, so much so that generally he does not hesitate to give a wine a bad rap if he believes it deserves it, regardless of wether Wine Library sells it or not. The show has also done great things regarding wine online, and I think has helped demystifiy wine to the masses, as is very interactive.

Anyway, I just love the passion it has provoked in many a wine fan, and if it is anything to go buy, wine as a staple in todays society is not going away anytime soon.
