Russians to Cut Tax on Alcohol

The Russian agency which regulates tax on alcohol, Rosalkogol, is reported to be considering a cut in vodka taxes to stop people making their own cheap vodka at home. Home-made spirits, referred to as Samagon, not only sidestep taxes, but also account for dozens of deaths every year as contraband fake-vodka contains dangerous levels of alcohol. Tax on a litre of pure alcohol would be cut from the current 190.8 roubles to 100 roubles. The change in policy is being billed as a move to “cheer up” the Russian people in a time of economic strife! Check out our Wine Shops for 100% authentic Russian vodka.
