As for the Red Nose Day wine, it is available at Booths, Marks & Spencer (£59.88 for a case of 12, £12 goes to Wine Relief), Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Somerfield, Tesco (£28.44 for a case of 6) and Waitrose (£4.74 per bottle or case of 12 for £56.88 which includes a 5% discount).
Red Nose Red (pinotage shiraz) and Red Nose White (chenin blanc) were created by SAAM Mountain Vineyards – a new South African venture uniting a group of 40 South African growers who farm vineyards that span the premium growing areas from Paarl to the Durbanville Hills. Launched in 2007, they have received many awards and accolades in a short time, including critical acclaim on BBC Breakfast, Decanter Wine of the Month, medals from the International Wine Challenge, Swiss Air and the Old Mutual Chenin Trophy.
Turner Prize winner, Damien Hirst, designed the label for the Wine Relief wines. Far removed from his artwork involved dissected animals, the Red Nose Wine labels feature a simple red dot on a grey background. The bottles RRP at £4.99 with £1 per bottle going to Comic Relief projects in the UK and Africa.
